3 in 5 believe Biden knew of son’s business dealings: Poll
Three out of five respondents believe President Biden knew of his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings, according to a survey conducted by Harvard’s Center for American Political Studies, Harris X and The Harris Poll.
Sixty percent of respondents think Biden “helped and participated in Hunter Biden’s business,” while 40 percent said they think the president did not help or participate, the poll found.
Republicans were more likely than Democrats to say they think Biden participated in his son’s business, despite there being no clear evidence of that claim; 81 percent of Republican respondents said they think Biden participated, compared to 39 percent of Democrats and 59 percent of independent voters who said the opposite.
Sixty-one percent of Democrats said Biden had no knowledge of his son’s business dealings, while 19 percent of Republicans thought the same, along with 41 percent of independents.
According to Harris Poll Chairman Mark Penn, the results show that voters are still concerned about Hunter Biden’s business deals and his father’s potential involvement.
“While the news has pivoted to other topics, voters remain concerned about Hunter Biden and how involved President Biden was in his business,” Penn said in an emailed statement.
Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) opened a formal impeachment inquiry into the president in mid-September and claimed the Biden family has a “culture of corruption.”
That month, the House Oversight and Accountability Committee held its first hearings on the impeachment inquiry into Biden and had a focus on Hunter Biden’s bank records and business dealings.
Democrats say Republicans have yet to connect the president to any wrongdoing.
Still, the president and his son are earning low favorability scores with voters.
“Hunter received a high unfavorable rating – worse than the president – and most believe that the president at least knew about his dealings,” Penn’s statement said.
Hunter Biden earned the highest unfavorable rating, with 37 percent of voters saying they have a “very unfavorable” view of him, 1 percent more than said the same of President Biden.
Former President Trump earned the highest favorability rating in the November poll, with 30 percent of respondents saying they have a “very favorable” view of him and 34 percent who said they have a very unfavorable view.
The survey was conducted online Nov. 15-16 with 2,851 registered voters.

Biden cracks age joke on 81st birthday, then confuses Taylor Swift, Beyonce
President Biden on his birthday Monday cracked numerous jokes about his age during the annual White House turkey pardon before confusing Taylor Swift and Beyonce when talking about the origin of the massive birds.
The now 81-year-old Biden, who told a crowd gathered in Washington that it is “difficult turning 60,” spared the lives of Liberty and Bell, two turkeys from Minnesota.
“Now, just to get here, Liberty and Bell had to beat some tough odds, a competition. They had to work hard to show patience and be willing to travel over a thousand miles,” Biden said. “You could say even this is harder than getting a ticket to the Renaissance tour, or, or Britney’s tour she’s down in – it’s kind of warm in Brazil right now.”
Biden apparently was referring to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour — which was notorious for difficulty in getting tickets, and which has a performance scheduled for tonight in Rio De Janeiro – and Beyonce’s Renaissance tour, which recently wrapped up at the start of October.
BIDEN CELEBRATES 81st BIRTHDAY BY HONORING WHITE HOUSE THANKSGIVING TRADITION
The president said today’s event was the “unofficial start of the holiday season” and was a time to “share joy and gratitude and a little bit of fun.”
“This is the 76th anniversary of this event. And I want you to know, I wasn’t there, the first one,” Biden said in another joke about his age.
Biden said that this week Americans will “gather with the people we love and the traditions that each of us have built up in our own families.
IT’S BIDEN’S 81ST BIRTHDAY. ARE VOTERS CONCERNED POTUS IS TOO OLD?
“We’ll also think about the loved ones we lost, including just yesterday. We lost former first lady Rosalynn Carter, who walked her own path, inspiring the nation and the world along the way,” he said.
“Let’s remind ourselves that we’re blessed to live in the greatest nation on this face of the earth. That’s what I see when I travel America,” Biden also said after pardoning the turkeys, mentioning how he helped serve food to service members yesterday at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia.
“Let’s remember we are the United States of America. And there is nothing, nothing, nothing – I mean this sincerely – nothing beyond our capacity when we work together. We’ve never come out of a situation in a bad circumstance, not without being better off when we come through it,” he concluded. “And this is always who we are as Americans. So happy Thanksgiving. God bless you all. And may God protect our troops.”

Biden campaign warns second Trump presidency would mean gun violence gets worse
The Biden campaign Monday laid out the stakes of the 2024 election when it comes to gun violence, warning that a second term for former President Trump would “cost more American lives.”
In a memo shared first with The Hill titled “Trump’s America in 2025: More Guns, More Shootings, More Deaths,” the Biden campaign cited Trump’s past comments to argue the Republican front-runner would allow more firearms in schools and push for a national concealed carry law.
“A Donald Trump presidency will mean more guns in schools and more guns in the hands of criminals, all because he thinks being pro-gun makes him look tough,” Biden campaign spokesperson Seth Schuster said in a statement. “But his refusal to stand up to the gun lobby to protect our kids makes him weak and a coward.”
“We simply cannot allow his extreme agenda in the White House that will cost more American lives,” Schuster added.
The memo is part of a concerted effort by the Biden campaign to highlight the potential consequences of another Trump presidency. Past releases have covered abortion, immigration and threats to democracy.
President Biden has repeatedly pushed for congressional action on gun control and has taken executive action to try and address the problem, giving his campaign a clear contrast with what it views as a record of inaction from Trump.
Trump in 2018 accused Republicans of fearing the National Rifle Association (NRA) in the aftermath of the mass shooting at Parkland High School in Florida, and he suggested he would take action on the issue. But the White House’s eventual proposal that year did not address expanded background checks or raising the age for gun purchases, changes the NRA opposed.
Trump again in 2019 flirted with supporting stronger gun laws after mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, but no major legislation was passed by Congress.
In a speech at an annual NRA meeting earlier this year, Trump vowed to protect the Second Amendment and argued the rise in school shootings was a result of widespread mental health problems in the country.
He said if elected, he would support putting more guns in schools to protect them from future shootings, proposing a new tax credit to reimburse any teacher for the cost of a concealed carry firearm and training from a qualified expert.
Trump also said he would ask Congress to pass a bill to create “national concealed carry reciprocity.”
“It’s simple: The safety of our children is on the ballot next November,” the Biden campaign said in Monday’s memo.
Biden has for years pushed for tougher gun laws, having championed an assault weapons ban while he was in the Senate and serving as the Obama administration’s point person to develop potential solutions after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012.
Since taking office, the president has signed executive actions to target the proliferation of ghost guns, which are difficult to track, and to bolster background checks. Biden in September established the Office of Gun Violence Prevention to focus specifically on the issue of mass shootings. He has repeatedly called on Congress to reimpose a ban on assault weapons.
Biden in 2022 signed bipartisan legislation that enhanced background checks for gun purchasers between the age of 18 and 21, made obtaining firearms through straw purchases or trafficking a federal offense and clarified the definition of a federally licensed firearm dealer, among other measures.
Despite that, mass shootings have been a persistent problem during Biden’s presidency.
Most recently, Biden traveled to Lewiston, Maine, earlier this month after a gunman killed 18 people in two separate locations there.
The president has the backing of major gun safety groups for his 2024 reelection, including Everytown for Gun Safety, Brady and Team ENOUGH, Community Justice Action Fund and Giffords.
“Joe Biden is, hands down, the only candidate in this race who has both the track record and the guts to stand up to the gun lobby and protect Americans from gun crime,” Peter Ambler, Giffords co-founder and executive director, said in a statement.

Biden talks turkey — then pardons them
Joe Biden spent his 81st birthday the only way a president would want to, really: pardoning turkeys and telling jokes.
“By the way, it’s my birthday today. I just want you to know, it’s difficult turning 60,” Biden said Monday at the annual Thanksgiving turkey pardon.
He chuckled at his own joke. The crowd gobbled it up. But the turkeys didn’t laugh.
Which is odd, because they should have been in a good mood. After all, they were the lucky ones this year, spared from a fate that involved basting and roasting, or a deep fryer, or being lined with smaller birds and consumed alongside a heap of stuffing.
This year’s presidentially spared birds hail from Minnesota — a perhaps telling biographical tidbit, as it’s not quite a swing state but could be one if Biden truly plummets in the polls. In classic Biden fashion, however, there was a Pennsylvania connection, too. This year’s flock of turkeys were named Liberty and Bell. Get it?
“These birds have a new appreciation of the words, let freedom ring,” Biden said, speaking from the White House Rose Garden.
Monday’s annual event marked the 76th anniversary of the White House turkey pardon, which dates back to 1947, when the National Turkey Federation first presented the national Thanksgiving Turkey to President Harry Truman. Biden, in another age reference, quipped that he was not present at Truman’s event. But he was alive; he was a mere 5 years old at the time — old enough, for certain, to eat turkey.
While the Thanksgiving bird used to be for the first family’s consumption, that is no longer the case. Beginning in the late 1980s, the event evolved into an oftentimes funny ceremony (minus the occasional snap at the pardoner’s hand) in which the turkeys are given a second chance at life. Liberty and Bell will make the trek back to live out their lives at the University of Minnesota.
There were a few jokes throughout Biden’s short ceremony on Monday. But let’s just say it was, like the cooked variety, relatively dry.
But like all Thanksgiving festivities, there was also some awkwardness around the table. Biden bungled one joke referencing the challenging nature of getting a ticket to Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour or Taylor Swift’s Eras concert — appearing to confuse Swift with Britney Spears.
“Just to get here, Liberty and Bell had to beat some tough odds and competition. They had to work hard to show patience and be willing to travel over 1,000 miles,” Biden said. “You could say even it’s harder than getting a ticket to the Renaissance tour or, or, for Brittney’s tour. She’s down in — it’s kind of warm in Brazil right now.”
Oops, he did it again. Gobble gobble.

US Republicans praise new ‘anarcho-capitalist’ Argentine President Javier Milei
Republican lawmakers in the U.S. are heaping well-wishes on Argentina’s newly elected president, a self-described “anarcho-capitalist” they say poses an “existential threat to progressives.”
Javier Milei has been compared to former President Donald Trump for his bombastic ways. He’s promised to slash government spending in Argentina by 15% and replace the country’s currency with the U.S. dollar, among other reforms.
Right-wing U.S. officials were quick to praise his victory on Sunday. Elected Democrats were largely silent, however.
“Here’s the most compelling reason why American progressives detest Javier Milei: If Argentina can elect a government with a mandate to restrain and downsize government, so can we,” Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, said after the win. “It’ll work there. And then here. That, my friends, is an existential threat to progressives.”

Rep. Mike Collins, R-Ga., praised him, “Congratulations to President-elect [Milei]. Hopefully, this will be the first of many wins for freedom and democracy against socialism in Latin America.”
House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Mike McCaul, R-Texas, called Milei’s win “decisive” and said, “I look forward to a promising new chapter for this bilateral relationship in addressing rampant corruption, Chinese encroachment, and other shared priorities together.”

Trump also congratulated him on his TruthSocial page, “Congratulations to Javier Milei on a great race for President of Argentina.”
“The whole world was watching! I am very proud of you. You will turn your Country around and truly Make Argentina Great Again!” Trump wrote.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., and Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., also extended well-wishes.
Milei, a libertarian economist, campaigned on a platform pushing smaller government in order to achieve economic success. He has made public appearances wielding a chainsaw as a symbol of his desire to cut spending.
FORMER ROCKER NICKNAMED ‘ARGENTINE TRUMP’ GAINS ELECTION STEAM WITH ANTI-SOCIALIST MESSAGE
Argentina, South America’s second-largest economy, is currently in the middle of a crippling economic crisis. Inflation in the month of October shot past 140% there.
In addition to calling for a drastic overhaul of Argentina’s government, including abolishing the Central Bank, Milei is also a climate change skeptic and has called to outlaw abortion.
An interview clip of Milei, which has been widely shared on social media and has become emblematic of his campaign, reportedly translates him as saying, “You can’t give s— leftards an inch… If you think differently, they will kill you.”
Among the only congratulatory messages from a Democratic official came from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
“We congratulate [Milei] on his election as President of Argentina. We look forward to continuing bilateral cooperation based on shared values and interests,” Blinken said in a statement.
