On Monday, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) released a video to explain the congressional Republicans’ position on the FISA memo released last week by the House Intelligence Committee. McCarthy explained what he saw as Congress’ role was in an oversight capacity. “It is Congress’s constitutional duty and responsibility to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch,” he said. “The American people deserve to know the facts and have a transparent and open government—even when it comes to the delicate balance between security and privacy.
